Brookdale Park

MONTCLAIR, NEW JERSEY–AAPI Montclair is thrilled to announce the return of Color Run on Sunday, April 28, 2024. Last year’s Color Run drew 1,200 participants and spectators, and this year’s event promises to be even more lively and engaging. Come enjoy music, activities, a color play zone, photo booth, and much more.

“The Color Run is a vibrant celebration of spring time renewal and the spirit of community,” said AAPI Montclair Board Member, Lavi Raghavan. “We come together to celebrate the Indian festival of Holi and the Thai New Year, Songkran. The race brings together a diverse cross section of our community while raising funds for our local schools.”

Color Run 2024 is a 5k and 1-mile Fun Run/Walk to celebrate the Indian festival of Holi and the Thai New Year, Songkran. Holi is popularly known as the “Festival of Colors” and the “Festival of Spring.” On Holi, entire towns are bathed in vivid colors as people play Holi by splashing colored powder and water. Songkran in Thai means “to move” or “change place.” Thai believe that water is purifying: It cleanses one of any bad luck from the past year, and blesses one with good fortune and happiness for the year ahead. On Songkran, people celebrate by engaging in water play.

Racers will run inside Brookdale Park and be splashed with colored powder at various places along the route. Participants of all ages and skill levels are invited to join in the races. Runners, walkers, strollers, and wheelchairs are welcome.

AAPI Montclair is proud to support local schools! 10% of race fees will be donated to local school districts. Please refer to the event webpage for specific codes and enter the appropriate code at checkout.
