MAAHF Parade- June 1

The forthcoming MAAHF Parade and Festival will set for Saturday, June 1st, at 10:30 AM. Experience Montclair enthusiastically invites the entire community to participate in this remarkable event, starting with the parade and followed by a vibrant festival presented by the Montclair African-American Heritage Foundation.

Immerse yourself in a world of music and culture. Since its inception in 1990, this annual celebration has been a testament to the vibrant heritage and significant contributions of African Americans in Montclair, NJ. The parade kicks off the festivities, featuring dazzling floats, spirited marching bands, and dynamic dance troupes as it winds its way through town.

This year, immediately after the parade, prepare for an exciting Battle of the Bands, featuring four top New Jersey High School marching bands vying for victory. It promises to be a finale you won’t want to miss! The battle will follow an unforgettable performance by the renowned and talented Drums of Thunder. The parade is a rain or shine event, but the festival will take place on Sunday, June 2nd if it rains. The Festival is at Nishuane Park from 1pm-6pm and will feature all of the community favorites: food and merchandise vendors, a game truck, a family area with bouncy houses, life size games and a collaboration with Montclair Brewery to produce MAAHF’s first beer garden.

The Parade Route:

1. Starting point: Maple Avenue and Bloomfield Avenue

2. The parade will turn left onto Bloomfield Avenue headed towards Elm Street.

3. The Parade will then make a left on Elm Street and proceed to Orange Road.

Once the parade reaches Cedar Avenue, it will pass Cedar the first time and Veer right onto Orange Road towards the South End Gardens to visit our senior residents. The parade will then go around the bend, turning left onto Orange Road towards Cedar Avenue again and finally turning left onto Cedar where the grandstand and battle of the bands will take place.

They are still accepting parade registrants: dance teams, community organizations, and vendors to participate in the parade.
